Our elders so knowledgeable and wise
The stories they tell
Of the world that was
Bestowed on us through their own eyes
Some have seen it all
The heartwarming Sight of generosity
To the ferocious Acts of animosity
The heroic show of bravery
The despicable act of slavery
The birth of our nation by emigration
The celebration of the end of segregation
Our days here on the earth will not last
We must appreciate there wisdom
and overcome things from the past
So learn from what they are teaching
Take heed to what they are preaching
If History is a lesson
Let the future be a blessing.
